Inspired by Peter Max

Fifth and sixth grade artists learned about "America's Artists Laureate," Peter Max.  Max rose to fame in the 1960's and '70's with his psychedelic paintings of the cosmos and Rock 'n' Roll album covers.  Much of his work shows themes of peace and environmentalism.  He has painted portraits of many U.S. Presidents and his work has been commissioned for a variety of posters over the past 5 decades.  Students looked at examples of his work, then chose at least five elements from his work to use in an original composition.  These pieces will be submitted for our school-wide Original Works fundraiser.

  1. So glad to see this mighty style can be shared as a way of looking at things with heart. The kids enjoy the look in their own way! It is so exciting to see the dialog here. Keep sharing until we can all see the visionary aspect of Peter Max in all of the world.
